PARK CITY, Utah — Volunteers are needed this summer to provide one-on-one reading support for elementary-school students at McPolin Elementary School.
The summer reading program will run from June 17 through July 22, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers may sign up for as many or as few shifts as they would like, with slots available in half-hour increments.
The program is designed to help students maintain and build reading skills during the summer break, when children can lose academic progress without continued practice. Volunteers will work individually with students using a structured literacy program.
No prior teaching experience is required. Teachers will be present during the sessions to provide materials, answer questions, and support volunteers.
Bilingual Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to sign up.
