PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City School District has released its summer Leisure Learning and Community Education lineup, with new classes and returning favorites for all ages.
The program offers courses from pre-K through adults designed to develop new skills for work or play. The Leisure Learning Department, which publishes its offerings in a seasonal brochure called The Compass, strives to connect community members through shared interests and hands-on learning.
New this season are Alterations 101, Boom Pow Superheroes Now, Shimmer & Shine Art Studio, Imaginary Monsters on Canvas, All About Nature, Wearable Art and Fuzzy Creations: Felting Camp.
“This is for everybody,” Jane Toly, longtime Leisure Learning coordinator for PCSD, told TownLift. “I recently had a man email me from South America who spends his summers in Park City hoping he hadn’t missed registration dates for his favorite classes, and I also had a woman contact me from Wanship wanting to sign up, so it truly is available to all.”
The 15-page brochure also includes perennial favorites like Micro Memoirs, Street Foods of the World, Mini Math, Dr. Seuss & Silly Science, Kids Yoga & Crafts with Randi Jo, NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers, Dino Design using LEGO® Materials and Fur-ensics™.
Community programming spans a range of locations and formats, including offerings at the Park City Aquatic Center, Norwegian School of Nature Life and English/ESL classes for adults.

Toly said the instructor roster comes together organically — she actively recruits throughout the community, including through the Nextdoor app, and about half the time instructors reach out to her directly with credentials and courses they want to teach.
