Michael Phelps hosts Utah’s State of Sport Awards including Park City athletes

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The 14th annual State of Sport Awards Ceremony was held at the Delta Center Stadium on April 8 and was hosted by Olympic champion, U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps.

The event celebrates Utah’s sports industry and recognizes excellence at the high school, collegiate, professional, and Olympic/Paralympic levels.

“Utah truly is the State of Sport,” said Governor Cox in a statement. “I see it in the excitement our professional sports teams bring and in the eyes of youth who engage in sport for fun and to learn life skills.”

• Brayden Butler ~ Para Climbing, USA Climbing

Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year:

• Ilove’a Brittingham ~ Softball, BYU Cougars

Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year:

• AJ Dybantsa ~ Basketball, BYU Cougars

High School Female Athlete of the Year:

• Belle Sorensen ~ Soccer, Bountiful Redhawks
