PARK CITY, Utah — Run-A-Muk’s annual spring closure will start on Monday, March 16, according to an announcement from Basin Recreation.
Officials say this closure period helps sensitive grasses and plants become established and protects muddy trails as they dry out from snow melt, spring runoff, and rain. It is also a time for the Trails & Open Space team to perform maintenance before the summer season begins.
Run-A-Muk typically closes for about a month in the spring, but staff report they are “playing it by ear” this year after the warm and muddy winter conditions. “We hope to open Run-A-Muk again fully in mid to late April, and will post updates as we monitor the conditions,” read the update.
Run-A-Muk will continue to afternoon closures after 11 a.m. until the park closes for the spring season.
