Police Log: Target shooting near Richardson Flat; porch package theft

Multiple DUI arrests were reported across the Summit County area this week, including a driver found asleep behind the wheel at a Park and Ride and another involved in an injury crash. Officers also responded to a package theft, late-night party disturbances, and a report of target shooting near a busy transit area.
Monday, March 16
Incident: DUI
A man was arrested for driving under the influence after being found asleep in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck parked at the Ecker Hill Park and Ride. The vehicle was in gear, and the driver showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.
Incident: Non-injury accident
Two vehicles were involved in a crash near Park Avenue and Deer Valley Drive. The vehicles were moved into a nearby parking lot. No injuries were reported.
Incident: Traffic hazard
A vehicle stalled in the intersection at Lucky John Drive and Little Kate Road, blocking traffic.
Tuesday, March 17
Incident: Suspicious circumstances
A caller on Marsac Avenue reported individuals smoking marijuana on a back patio, with the odor entering their residence.
Incident: Non-injury accident
A crash involving two vehicles was reported at Kearns Boulevard and Snow Creek Drive. No injuries were reported.
Wednesday, March 18
Incident: Warrant / drugs
A driver was arrested during a traffic stop on the US-40 eastbound onramp for a revoked registration. The driver had an active warrant and was also charged with drug-related offenses.
Incident: Disorderly conduct
A panhandler near Fresh Market was reported yelling at passing vehicles while holding a sign.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller on Lowell Avenue reported loud yelling coming from a residence involving both adults and juveniles.
Thursday, March 19
Incident: Theft
A package was reported stolen from outside an apartment door on Kearns Boulevard after being delivered late the previous night.
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped for careless driving near Sidewinder Drive and Kearns Boulevard and claimed she was distracted cleaning up a spill.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller on Lowell Avenue reported a loud house party with screaming late at night.
Friday, March 20
Incident: Welfare check
Officers responded to City Hall after a woman became extremely upset about being locked out of her vehicle.
Incident: Non-injury accident
A minor fender bender was reported in an employee parking lot near Swede Alley and the transit center. No injuries were reported.
Saturday, March 21
Incident: Citizen assist
A driver at Richardson Flat reported individuals shooting stationary targets about 50 feet from where buses park.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested for driving under the influence on westbound I-80 after being observed speeding and committing multiple traffic violations.
Sunday, March 22
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported people yelling and making noise outside near Gallivan Loop late at night.
Incident: Found property
A backpack that fell from a vehicle was recovered by a transit employee near the Old Town Transit Center.

Officers monitored key intersections throughout the city to manage peak ski traffic on the final day of the season’s busiest period.
Incident: Suspicious circumstances
A caller reported three trucks parked near a road-closed gate along SR-224, possibly trespassing.

A driver was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Bitner Road after showing signs of impairment.
