Lindsey Vonn Foundation opens applications for girls’ ski scholarship

PARK CITY, Utah — The Lindsey Vonn Foundation is now accepting applications for the Erich Sailer Ski Scholarship, a ski scholarship designed specifically for girls ages 8–18.

To qualify, the skier must be actively participating in alpine ski racking, based in the United States, and seeking support for training, competition, camps, or equipment. This application cycle runs until April 30, and a second cycle will run from June 15 to August 31.

The scholarship was founded in honor of the legacy of Erich Sailer — Vonn’s longtime coach. “Erich was more than a coach,” reads the foundation website. “He was a mentor, a dream-builder, and a legend whose influence shaped the lives of countless young athletes, including Lindsey herself. His unwavering belief in hard work, perseverance, and the power of potential left an indelible mark on the ski racing world and on the hearts of all those he guided.”

The foundation’s scholarship program gives up to $5,000 twice a year to 10-8 year-olds who “show grit and passion for an enrichment program or sports-related activity but don’t have the resources to access the experience,” according to the foundation. Since its inception, the program has given out more than $1 million.
