SUNDANCE, Utah — Sundance Mountain Resort has opened a new 63-room ski-in/ski-out hotel at the base of its Outlaw Express lift, adding a central lodging option to the resort village as the destination continues a multiyear expansion plan.
The property, called the Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort, was built as two wings connected by a footbridge spanning the North Fork Provo River, with views toward Mount Timpanogos.
Resort officials framed the project as an extension of founder Robert Redford’s long-running emphasis on limiting visual impact in Provo Canyon, including guidelines that keep rooflines below the tree line and preserve mountain sightlines.
Design details released by the resort said interiors were conceived by Fettle Design and incorporate a mix of Western, Scottish, and 1970s-era rustic influences, with the rooms oriented toward stream, ridgeline, and mountain views. The resort said the hotel’s wellness features include lighting intended to support sleep and all-cotton bedding and linens selected with input from a “PhD sleep expert.”

Public gathering spaces include a lounge area, the resort calls the Living Room, which it said serves a European-style breakfast and later offers small plates and cocktails, along with indoor-outdoor seating on a wraparound deck. The resort said overnight guests also have access to a ski valet and boot room.
The Inn also includes a gallery space with rotating exhibitions, the resort said, with an inaugural show featuring British artist Tony Foster’s “Watercolour Diaries from the Green River.” Guests may also find a “Cabinet of Curiosities” displaying items tied to Redford’s life and work, including film-related materials and fossils from the Green River area.

“For more than fifty years, Sundance Mountain Resort has been guided by Robert Redford’s vision to balance development with preservation,” Chad Linebaugh, the resort’s president and general manager, said in the announcement. “With the opening of the Inn, we’re honoring that legacy and protecting the character and spirit of this extraordinary place.”
The hotel opening comes as Sundance continues to pursue on-mountain changes to expand its terrain and improve skier circulation. The resort plans to debut the Electric Horseman Express, a new high-speed quad lift, for the winter 2026-27 season, along with two terrain expansions totaling 165 acres.
Ahead of that, Sundance has said it would preview the expansion by opening about 60 acres of new terrain in the 2025-26 season, with additional acreage planned to follow once the new lift is operational.
Sundance, founded by Redford in 1969, has positioned itself as a four-season resort with a strong arts focus alongside skiing and riding, and it has been recognized by the MICHELIN Guide with a One MICHELIN Key distinction.
