Park City Fashion Week heads to Black Rock Mountain Resort after last-minute change

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Fashion Week will take to the runway at Black Rock Mountain Resort on Wednesday, Jan. 29, following a last-minute venue change that forced organizers to reschedule from the event’s original Sundance Film Festival opening weekend slot at The Marquis.

Founder Kim Kienow said the abrupt shift has taken a toll on ticket sales, with many attendees requesting refunds after the date change.

Kienow said the show had sold out by Thursday, but the schedule and venue changes have created additional availability. “Everyone was very excited to be there and get a seat,” she said.

Despite the setback, she remains focused on showcasing both returning talent and newcomers to the Park City runway.

“We have some new designers from Denver and Texas that we’re really excited about,” Kienow said. “We’re also highlighting a group of Indigenous designers.”

The venue disruption became public earlier this month when an Instagram update announced the postponement “due to venue approval challenges.” Event listings on Eventbrite now show the rescheduled show at Black Rock Mountain Resort in Heber City.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Wednesday, with the runway show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the approximately 90-minute presentation, attendees can shop featured collections and mingle with designers.

Kienow launched Park City Fashion Week in 2020, drawing on the intersection of fashion and film festival culture during Sundance season. This year’s show includes an Indigenous designers segment presented in partnership with Utah Indigenous Fashion Week, according to the Park Record.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
