New mayor, two councilmembers sworn in for Park City

PARK CITY, Utah — Locals gathered in a snowy Bob Wells Plaza Monday evening as Ryan Dickey was sworn in as Park City’s new mayor. Incumbent Tana Toly and newcomer Diego Zegarra also took the oath of office as city councilmembers.

With City Hall as the backdrop, outgoing Mayor Nann Worel performed the swearing-in ceremonies.

Toly was the first to be sworn in and began her second four-year term on the council by emphasizing her goal to ensure Park City remains a vibrant place to live, work, and stay rooted, while acknowledging inevitable challenges and the need for strong leadership to adapt and progress.

“We don’t know exactly what the future holds, and that uncertainty invites honesty and collaboration. Partnership is where we will thrive,” she said. “If the rain during Christmas break taught us anything, it’s the need for economic resilience. We can’t rely on one season or one model. Supporting our seniors, strengthening Main Street, helping families thrive, and ensuring local businesses can weather change is essential to keeping Park City strong.”

Zegarra began his term by reflecting on how his time in Park City has shaped his understanding of community. “I am committed to governing with humility and purpose,” he said. “To me, that means listening carefully, acting transparently, and choosing collaboration over division.”

Finally, Dickey took the oath of office as Park City’s new mayor. He reflected on his campaign, from the moment Mayor Nann Worel encouraged him to run through the election recount triggered by a seven-vote margin.

He emphasized the importance of local government, especially “when it feels like government far away in Washington doesn’t seem to be working for people anymore, and sometimes institutions don’t feel like they’re delivering for people like they once did.”

Dickey said the council will soon tackle major projects and issues including Bonanza Park, Recreate 248, Main Street redevelopment, affordable housing, and more.
