Casey Dawson qualifies to speedskate in the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — At the 2026 Olympic Team Trials for Long Track Speedskating, Casey Dawson, a Park City native, qualified to represent Team USA at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 in February. This will be his second Olympic Games.

At the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dawson won the 5000m race in a time of 6:12.857, earning a spot on the 2026 Olympic Team. Dawson has also qualified to race the 10,000 m at the Olympic Games based on his World Cup results during the 2025-26 season.

Below, the video shows him celebrating with his friends and family from Park City.

“Finally, hopefully, get my chance to skate [the 5000m] from not being able to skate because of COVID last time around. I’m just happy to finally secure my spot and also have a 10k spot to go with it. I’m excited to get the Games and show ’em what I got.” Dawson said to U.S. Speedskating after seeing the final 5k results.

“Racey Casey,” as his mom, Tami, often refers to him publicly, began this stellar season where he trains on home ice in Salt Lake City, the home of the Utah Olympic Oval and host venue for the 2002 and the 2034 Games.

Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) Ambassador, Dawson got his start while in elementary school in the Park City School District via the Park City Speedskating Club before graduating from the Park City High School.
