PARK CITY, Utah — Suni Woolstenhulme, a 20-year Summit County resident and owner of Park City Gift & Gourmet, announced her candidacy for Summit County clerk Tuesday, positioning herself as a bridge between the county’s diverse communities.
Woolstenhulme brings eight years of public service experience from the South Summit School Board, where she served as president during her final two years. She stepped away from public office five years ago to focus on her Kimball Junction retail business, but said her commitment to community service remains strong.
“The County Clerk’s office is the administrative backbone of our community that affects the daily lives of every resident,” Woolstenhulme said. “Whether you are starting a business, getting married, or casting a ballot, the Clerk’s office is where government meets the people.”
Woolstenhulme shared that her campaign centers on three core priorities: streamlining county services for residents and business owners, enhancing public access to government records and meeting minutes, and maintaining election security and accuracy.
Woolstenhulme emphasized her unique perspective spanning Summit County’s geographic and economic diversity. While she lives in Oakley on the county’s east side, she has operated her small business in the Park City area for nine years.
During her tenure on the school board, she oversaw complex budgets and managed public resources. She said that experience taught her the importance of constituent engagement and fiscal accountability.
“Her eight years on the School Board taught her the importance of listening to constituents and managing public resources with integrity,” her campaign stated.
Woolstenhulme is married to Jay Woolstenhulme, a lifelong Summit County resident. The couple has six children.
The filing period for local candidates opens at 8 a.m. Jan. 2 and closes at 5 p.m. Jan. 8. Voters will choose a county clerk, auditor, sheriff, attorney, and two County Council members in the 2026 election.
The 2026 Summit County clerk election will be held in November 2026.
