Park City Peaks Hotel reopens as Hotel Thaynes after $21 million renovation

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Peaks Hotel has reopened this winter under a new name—Hotel Thaynes—following a complete renovation of the nearly 40-year-old property.

The 128-room building, which originally opened in 1986, underwent a previous renovation in 2017 before this latest overhaul. Hotel Thaynes is now Marriott’s newest Tribute Portfolio property, managed by Lodging Dynamics.

The property’s new name references the Thaynes Chairlift, a historic three-mile mineshaft that was converted into an underground ski lift in the 1960s during Park City’s transition from mining to skiing. The renovation incorporated design elements and artwork referencing Thaynes Canyon and the area’s mining history.

Among the updates are a new indoor-outdoor pool and hot tub, along with renovated guest rooms. The property continues to feature Versante Hearth + Bar, which is open daily and serves hand-crafted pizzas and seasonal dishes. Guests also have access to on-site ski rental services and complimentary shuttle service to nearby ski resorts and Main Street.
