Shane Kahn, who attends Judge Memorial High School while living and growing up in Park City is a highly ranked state swimmer and finished just off the podium in multiple events in New Mexico. He’s been in this swim club for eight years, which means eight years of waking up at 4:45 each morning of training at the Ecker Hill School pool. He placed just off the podium in several of his events in New Mexico.

“What I like about this sport and this club is the team camaraderie,” Kahn told TownLift.

He went on to explain how swimming is an individual sport; however, “the biggest, coolest part of traveling to a meet like Santa Fe and lodging with the team and having fun after the competition with your teammates means lots of close friendships get made.”

His mom, Jessica, told TownLift, “What I like about it all is that Shane is learning life skills. I echo his sentiment about making meaningful connections within the swimming community — you can’t just buy experiences like that.”

Park City Swimming also annually travels down to St. George to swim, and in March some of the club members will swim at sectionals in Indiana.
