Park City High School presents ‘9 to 5’ musical

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City High School presents the musical ‘9 to 5’ on Nov. 20-22 at 7 p.m. with an additional matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Eccles Center for Performing Arts. Tickets cost $7 for students and $10 for adults.
This musical is based on the 20th Century Fox film originally produced by Robert Greenblatt on Broadway and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. The director of this high school production, Krischelle Hansen, writes that they “leaned into the comedy, yes — but we’ve also spent time listening to the quieter moments.”
You can expect to laugh and maybe leave with a smile. With a cast of 25, 16 pit musicians, nine design team members, and a dozen additional crew members, not to mention the many people filling multiple positions, this production took a lot of coordination and work.
“Watching these students support each other, try scary choices, and keep showing up for the work has been pure magic,” Hansen said. “They’ve made this story theirs in ways that surprised and delighted me every rehearsal.”
Tickets for this production are available at the entrance by scanning a QR code. While Patricia Resnick originally wrote the book, this production was modified to present the students’ interpretations. Musical arrangements and additional orchestrations by Stephen Oremus and Alex Lacamoire were added and orchestrated by Bruce Coughlin.
