Empire Pass closes for the winter season

PARK CITY, Utah — Empire Gate officially closed for the season on Wednesday, ending access to SR-224 between Summit and Wasatch counties. 

Guardsman Pass from Brighton to Park City closed earlier in November. 

The Utah Department of Transportation closes these roads seasonally, as they don’t plow or do winter maintenance on the routes. 

Mirror Lake Highway is still open for vehicles. 

UDOT will continue to provide updates on closures and announce in spring when roads will be ready to reopen.
