Sundance 2025 films streaming or in theaters in October

PARK CITY, Utah — Star power does not necessarily mean a movie will be picked up and released quickly. One of the sold-out premieres at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival is making its debut in US theaters in October.

While the 2025 Sundance Film Festival didn’t have the bidding wars of the past, movie deals keep happening. With over 60 films arriving at the festival without a distribution contract, the number of films still looking for distribution has dwindled.

Kiss of the Spider Woman

This unique film was financed by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity and earned standing ovations at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The US rights have now been purchased by Roadside Attractions. Look for it in Cinemark and AMC theaters.

Hal & Harper

The first episode of this episodic will air on MUBI starting October 19 with additional weekly episodes on Sundays through November 30.

Cooper Raiff’s debut episodic as a writer/director follows two tight-knit siblings forced to face a past tragedy when their dad decides to sell their childhood home.

It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, Folktales and more

The documentaries It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley and Folktales are not playing in Utah theaters but are available for rent or purchase on streaming platforms such as Prime Video.

Love, Brooklyn from the U.S. Dramatic selection is available at select AMC theaters around Utah.

The Thing With Feathers, another premiere featuring a well-known cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, will play in Utah theaters at the end of October.

2026 Sundance Film Festival tickets

October 22 at 10 a.m. MT is also the time Festival passes and packages will be available for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Passes give you unlimited screenings plus priority access. Packages include 10 tickets with early selection. Options for Utah locals and the 18–25 crowd will also be available.
