SNOWBIRD — When the lifts start spinning on Thanksgiving Day, Snowbird guests will finally get a chance to experience the resort’s Nest dining venue— a new gleaming glass restaurant perched mid-mountain with panoramic views of Gad Valley.
The Nest will anchor Snowbird’s 2025–26 season improvements and is being billed as one of the most striking on-mountain restaurants in North America. The name was chosen in July through a guest and social-media vote.
Located at the top of the Mid-Gad chairlift, The Nest features 145 floor-to-ceiling Swiss glass panels, a heated outdoor deck with space for 90 diners, and a self-serve menu ranging from gourmet burgers to global dishes such as Indian curries and Caribbean specialties. The restaurant was designed by GSBS Architects and built by Layton Construction, with an opening date set for Dec. 10, 2025.

“We are excited for our guests to experience what I believe is one of the most stunning on-mountain dining experiences in North America,” said Dave Fields, Snowbird’s president and general manager. “The architecture and menu are a perfect complement to Snowbird’s terrain, natural beauty and passionate skiers and riders.”
Skiers will be able to reach The Nest via several lifts — Mid-Gad, Gad 2, Little Cloud, or Gadzoom — or by taking the Aerial Tram.
Beyond the restaurant, Snowbird is investing in a slate of snowmaking and avalanche-control upgrades designed to improve efficiency and safety. Twelve new energy-efficient snow guns will boost coverage on high-traffic runs, while four additional Wyssen avalanche towers will join the 17 already on the mountain to help patrol teams open terrain faster after storms.
And the resort’s avalanche-dog team is expanding, too. A new black Labrador puppy named Billie — a nod to the famed outlaw — will begin training this season alongside Snowbird Ski Patrol. The young rescue dog will spend the winter learning to locate buried skiers and participate in patrol exercises as her skills develop.
The combination of on-mountain amenities, safety technology, and sustainability efforts continues Snowbird’s long-term plan to enhance both guest experience and operational resilience, resort officials said.
Snowbird’s 2025–26 season opening is set for Nov. 27.
