PARK CITY, Utah — The Eccles Center will host Big Ideas on October 30, when TEDxParkCity kicks off its 2025-26 season with Back-to-TED.
Expect an evening of talks curated from the 2025 TED conference in Vancouver. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., there will be approximately three hours of programming, which includes a generous pizza dinner break. Doors open at 5:30.
For tickets, visit tedxparkcityut.org or find them on Eventbrite.
“We are excited to be back at the Eccles to present talks that are mostly -not yet available to the public,” Event organizer Terri Orr said. “Many talks’ unique perspectives have universal appeal, but each year, some speakers strike a chord that I know will resonate within the Park City community—either through their ingenuity, their creativity, or their unexpected subject matter.”
Orr, who produces these Tedx events with co-host Bari Nan Rothchild, noted the TEDx season will include events featuring live speakers, including TEDxPark City Women and TEDxParkCity Youth, where local students learn how to deliver their own TEDx Talks. The dates for those events will be announced soon.
“The evening at the Eccles will feature talks from a range of speakers representing Technology, Entertainment, and Design—including Sam Altman of OpenAI, investigative journalist Carole Cadwalladr, and Costa Rican diplomat Christiana Figueres,” Orr said. “Most of these talks come from the live feed and are not edited. This year demonstrated a new level of fearlessness as they explored the ways technology has infiltrated every aspect of our lives; the tech is informed by its design and how we view it. And ultimately, if we don’t have the soul part, then we stop being human.”
TEDxPark City presents Back-to-TED in the large venue, with limited ticket sales, making the most of the comfort and features of Eccles while leaving room for connection and conversation during the evening.
“TEDxParkCity events invite us to view our community through a wider lens, and engage in different conversations, in the spectacular theater space of the Eccles Center, on the giant screen and immersive sound system,” Rothchild said. “We’ll have a generous break for a light dinner, and some tasty conversations, thanks to our friends at Red Banjo. After that, we’ll head back in for more on-screen adventures.”
“The audience engages together as collective witnesses,” Orr said. “It’s exciting, as we all break to share a meal, how, because we’ve experienced this together, and we’ve seen the same talks through different lenses, but now we have a shared language and, hopefully, curiosity.”
Tickets are $45, which includes Red Banjo pizza and beverages at the break. This event will be limited to 300 people to allow for an intimate experience.
TEDxParkCity presents this evening with special thanks to Utah Film Center, our fiscal sponsor, and to its founder, Emmy winner and Oscar-nominated producer Geralyn Dreyfous, for their support. We are also proud to have the support of the Park City Chamber Bureau, Morgan Stanley in Park City, Proforma Peak Marketing Studio, Red Banjo Pizza, Done to Your Taste, and Park City Summit County Arts Council.
