PARK CITY, Utah — Alpine Forestry and Park City are teaming up to conduct prescribed burns through the fall season. The burns began Monday in the Prospector area near the SOS trail and will continue through December.
Prescribed burns are an essential piece of forest management, as they reduce the amount of fuel available to future wildfires. They also help promote a healthy forest ecosystem.
About 200 piles are slated for prescribed burns throughout the Prospector, Ontario Mine Bench, and Treasure Hill areas in Park City.
The Forest Service will also conduct pile burns over the next few months in various areas throughout the Wasatch and Uinta mountains.
If you see flames or smoke in these areas, there is no need to report it.
