“It’s good, it’s fresh, it’s crazy doughy, no crisp to speak of” Portnoy said after sampling a slice of Maxwell’s signature pie.
PARK CITY, Utah — Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy stopped by Maxwell’s Pizza in Park City to give it his famous “One Bite” review. The verdict: 7.1 out of 10.
“It’s good, it’s fresh, it’s crazy doughy, no crisp to speak of.” Portnoy said after sampling a slice of Maxwell’s signature pie.
A 7.1 is a very respectable score, Portnoy has only ever given out one 10 out of 10 to Monte’s Pizza in Lynn, Massachusetts. TownLift readers also ranked Maxwell’s the best pizza in Park City in a reader poll.
The One Bite Pizza Review is a video series created and hosted by Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports. In each episode, he visits a pizzeria, often unannounced, orders a plain cheese slice, and scores it based on his first impressions. The series has become one of Barstool’s most recognizable segments, with Portnoy having reviewed more than 1,500 pizzerias across the U.S. and abroad.
Portnoy is currently in Utah as part of the Fox Sports “Big Noon Kickoff” team, covering the University of Utah vs. BYU football game in Provo. During his stay, he’s also conducting several regional pizza reviews throughout the state.
