Old Town Chapel to be sold as St. Luke’s expands Silver Springs campus

PARK CITY, Utah — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church has announced plans to sell its historic Chapel on Park Avenue in Old Town.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to modernize and expand the church’s main campus on Silver Springs Road. Church leaders say the investment will help strengthen St. Luke’s presence and outreach within the community through its ministries and missions for years to come.

“Since 1889, St. Luke’s and its parishioners have been active members of the Park City community,” said Ted Clayton, Senior Warden of St. Luke’s. “As our congregation grows, we are committed to preparing our campus for the future. Selling our beloved Chapel is a difficult decision, but it will allow us to better serve our members and the wider community for generations to come.”

The Chapel, which opened in 1901, received historic designation from the Park City Historic Commission in 1988 and has long played a central role in the spiritual and cultural life of Park City. The congregation relocated to a larger campus in 1996 to accommodate growth, and that facility is now in need of modernization.

A local real estate brokerage firm has been selected to handle the sale, and the Chapel will be officially listed in the coming month.

St. Luke’s expressed hope that the Chapel’s next chapter will continue to serve the Park City community, citing examples of when the city has repurposed historic buildings for new uses, such as the McPolin Barn, which has been preserved as a public park and event space, and the Silver Star Resort, which integrates restored mining buildings into its design. Converting the space for residential use is also a possibility.

“We hope the new owner will cherish the Chapel’s significance and historic position in our community,” said the Rev. Ashley Wright, Rector of St. Luke’s. “St. Luke’s Chapel will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we are grateful for its contribution to our fellowship and ministry.”

The church plans to host a series of farewell events celebrating the Chapel’s legacy. Details and updates are available at stlukesparkcity.com/events.
