New Ragnar course to bring runners to Soldier Hollow in 2026

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A new Ragnar course is coming to the Wasatch Back, taking teams of runners through 120 miles of trails in a debut race scheduled for August 28–29, 2026.

Teams of eight runners will run day-and-night, each covering roughly 15 miles of trails with 3,610 feet of elevation gain on three distinct loops that start and finish at the Soldiers Hollow Nordic Center. Runners will “pass the baton” to the next member of their team after completing a loop, rotating through the eight members until all have completed the three sections. “Ultra” teams of four runners will take on twice the mileage, completing each loop twice.

The center will be transformed into “Ragnar Village,” serving as a basecamp for runners and their support teams. There’s also an option for an “Ultra” four-person team, which doubles the distance for each runner.

“Over 20 years ago, Ragnar began right here in Utah with the iconic Wasatch Back race, and later, our most popular event, Ragnar Trail Zion, just outside of Zion National Park,” said Ragnar Race Director Paul Jesse. “Soldier Hollow, in the Heber Valley on the east side of the Wasatch Mountains, is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and legacy as the host of Nordic events in the 2002 and upcoming 2034 Winter Olympics. The world-class trails at Soldier Hollow are perfectly suited for trail running.”

Runners can take advantage of early-bird pricing at $175 per runner until Nov. 7, after which the cost increases from $1,395 to $1,495 per team.
