Tours of local waste and water treatment facilities this fall

PARK CITY, Utah —Recycle Utah has scheduled not just one, but four tours of local waste collection and treatment facilities in Summit County. All tours require preregistration. Register for the tour you wish to attend at the links below. Carpooling is encouraged.
Spoil to Soil Tour
This minority woman owned business is a commercial composting facility. They create mulch products, compost, topsoil, and woodchips from 100 % of the green waste that comes into their facility. Spoil to Soil tests and screens the compost that goes back into the community.
One of their big focuses is to ensure they do not go anaerobic in their compost windrows. When a compost pile goes anaerobic it produces methane. They are even adding methane detection sensors to prevent this.
They are licensed under Utah Department of Environmental Quality as a licensed solid waste facility for green waste while using a slight variant of the Berkeley Hot Compost method. They are also a USDA Compost farm. This tour will be held outdoors on Sept. 16 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at 7756 W Lower Bowl Rd, Peoa, UT 84061.
