Ski for a cause: Shred For Red returns to Park City’s Deer Valley Resort March 2026

PARK CITY, Utah — Blood Cancer United will hold its signature fundraising ski event, Shred For Red, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Deer Valley Resort, marking the first time the event moves from its traditional early December date to spring.

The date change allows participants to experience Deer Valley’s spring skiing conditions while supporting blood cancer patients and their families in the local community.

“Deer Valley is proud to continue hosting Shred for Red, a tradition that brings our community together in support of an important cause,” said Emily Summers, Director of Communications at Deer Valley Resort. “By moving the event to spring, participating skiers will not only enjoy spring conditions but also experience our expanded terrain through unique on-mountain challenges. This shift creates an even more memorable day while keeping the focus on raising vital funds for blood cancer patients and their families.”

This year’s event also represents the organization’s first ski fundraiser under its new name. Blood Cancer United officially launched Aug. 28, transitioning from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, though the mission remains unchanged: to improve the lives of blood cancer patients through research, treatment, support and advocacy.

Shred For Red brings together supporters for a family-friendly day on the mountain that includes an on-mountain scavenger hunt, downhill racecourse and the opportunity to ski alongside Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The day concludes with an après-ski reception at Deer Valley’s Snow Park Lodge.

The event is open to skiers of all abilities. Adults must raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate, while children under 12 must raise $300.

“Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer in the U.S.,” said Coker Powell, Blood Cancer United EVP, Chief Revenue Officer. “We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who will be joining us at Shred For Red this spring to help Blood Cancer United drive groundbreaking research, provide critical support to patients and families, advocate for affordable care, and send a powerful message: no one faces blood cancer alone.”

Participants who meet fundraising minimums will receive:
• Full-day ski lift ticket to Deer Valley Resort, valid March 28, 2026
• Shred For Red participant bib
• Access to on-mountain activities and racecourse
• Entry to the après-ski reception

The organization has set a goal to enable patients with blood cancer to gain more than 1 million years of life by 2040.
