Park City Shot Ski aims to hit fundraising goal, reclaim world record this October

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Sunrise Shot Ski is back for its ninth year, and organizers are aiming for a new world record.

On Saturday, Oct. 11,  at 2 p.m., Historic Main Street will be lined with hundreds of participants raising glasses of High West Double Rye whiskey for charity. The event, hosted by the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club in partnership with High West Distillery, is a major fundraiser for the Rotary’s Community Grant Program.

Last year, Park City’s shot ski set a record at 1,385 participants before being edged out by Breckenridge, Colorado, which claimed the current record in December with 1,401 people and a 2,477-foot-long ski. This year, organizers are determined to bring the title back to Utah by lining up at least 1,410 participants.

The fundraising goal is just as ambitious, with the Sunrise Rotary aiming to raise $70,000 to support local nonprofits.

“We are thrilled for the return of one of Park City’s favorite fall traditions, all in the name of raising community dollars and local High West whiskey,” said Rotary Club member Connie Nelson. “Participants are encouraged to purchase their tickets or a sponsorship to help us reach our ambitious goal to support our passionate community groups.”

Event proceeds will benefit the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club’s Grant Program for 20 community groups and provide ongoing support to help their burgeoning initiatives thrive.

Tickets are $30 and include a spot on the ski. Sponsorships and event merchandise are also available at parkcityshotski.com.
