UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A wildfire that sparked Monday near Tibble Fork Reservoir in Mill Canyon (accessible from American Fork Canyon) forced evacuations and shut down access to the area. Officials have shut down State Route 144 at the State Route 92 junction due to the fire impacting the roadway.
The Pleasant Grove Ranger District has named the blaze the Mill Canyon Fire, reporting it at about a quarter-acre on the east side of Tibble Fork Reservoir. The cause remains under investigation.

“Granite Flat Campground, the Tibble Fork summer home area, and Tibble Fork Reservoir have been evacuated,” the district said in an update, adding that the reservoir and surrounding area are closed for public safety while crews work to contain the fire. According to reporting by FOX 13 News, the fire is in an inaccessible area, so crews must go in by foot and also conduct water drops from the air.
No timeline has been released for reopening the area. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the U.S. Forest Service is leading firefighting efforts.
