HEBER CITY, Utah — From work trucks to specialty equipment, Wasatch County is clearing out its vehicle inventory through a surplus auction that gives residents a chance to snag government fleet vehicles at competitive prices.
The county’s Public Works Department is accepting sealed bids through Monday, Aug. 25 at noon for an assortment of surplus vehicles and equipment that have outlived their municipal usefulness but may still have plenty of life left for private buyers.
Prospective bidders can get their hands on the merchandise during two preview days — Aug. 18 and 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Works facility on West 3000 South in Heber City. Those who can’t make the scheduled viewing times can arrange a private appointment by calling Kevin Davis at 385-335-5440.
The bidding process requires email submissions to publicworkssurplus@wasatch.utah.gov or hand-delivered written bids to the Public Works Department at 1891 West 3000 South. Bidders must include comprehensive identification and contact information along with specific vehicle details including the last five digits of the VIN number.
Winners will be notified within five business days of the deadline and must move quickly — payment and pickup are required within five business days of notification. The county accepts certified checks, cashier’s checks, cash or cards (with a 2.5% processing fee).
But buyers beware: all sales are final with no warranties. The county maintains the right to pull items from the auction block or reject any bid that doesn’t meet expectations. Once submitted, bids become legally binding contracts.
The complete vehicle lineup is available for browsing at the Wasatch County website.
