Edward and Nina Wald join forces to capture hearts and souls

PARK CITY, Utah — Together, Park City residents Edward and Nina Wald are creating a multimedia art presentation. It is a testament of their love for each other because this was not an easy birth. Nina Wald is a painter who loves electronic music. Edward Wald is a pianist and composer, who loves acoustic music and didn’t consider synthesized instruments to be real instruments. He didn’t think electronic music could affect people the same way that acoustic music can. Nina was offended by this.
Edward Wald expands his range into electronic music
When Edward started composing music again, his goal was to make Nina cry, to touch her heart with his acoustic music. He didn’t succeed, so after a battle with himself he started listening to some electronic music. They discovered current electronic musicians in Germany, who started playing acoustic piano and then evolved into electronic musicians. Now they listen to a whole list of musicians, mostly from Europe, who started on acoustic instruments and now include electronic music.
Finally, Edward added some electronic music to his compositions. This time Nina did cry. It was really touching for her.
Animations enhance emotional engagement
After the first concert Edward performed at the Jim Santy Auditorium, one of the attendees told Edward Wald that with the one piece that he played with a video background, her perception of the emotions was even richer.
So, for this multimedia art presentation, Edward and Nina Wald decided to combine their talents. Edward took some of Nina’s paintings and let AI create some animations. He also created some additional animations himself. The organizers of their next concert at the Park City Library approved adding the video presentation to his original music concert.
Nina Wald finally finds the space she wants to display her art in
One of Edward and Nina’s favorite dates was going to the 3D Van Gogh exhibition. This reminds Nina of that. She finds this interesting. Her paintings have a life after she creates them. When they first moved to Park City, they visited a lot of galleries, but Nina didn’t find one with as much open space as she wanted to display her art in. The inclusion of her art in their animations gives the art the space she was hoping for.
This is in line with Edward’s minimalism. For him, each note or each pause, or pattern is essential. They are valuable in themselves.

Park City’s art culture has captured Edward and Nina Wald
Together, Edward and Nina traveled a lot. She has a degree in Psychology. Edward is a published author and has worked in cinematography and screenwriting. They both grew up in Moscow in the post-Soviet era, when trying to work in the arts was frowned upon. In Park City they are trying to build connections between hearts and souls among people with different backgrounds, culturally and ethnically, with non-verbal art. Their multimedia concert will be held in the Jim Santy Auditorium of the Park City Library on Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
