Tiger Woods visits Park City as construction progresses on first mountain golf course

PARK CITY, Utah — Golf legend Tiger Woods was in Park City recently for a site visit to Marcella Club, where his design firm, TGR Design, is creating Woods’ first-ever mountain golf course.

Marcella Club called the visit a “productive design visit” in a post Monday, with Tiger and his team walking the grounds and reviewing shaping, bunkering, and other key elements. According to TGR Design, nearly half of the course is now grassed, bringing the 18-hole layout closer to its debut.

“We walked the site, saw the new sod which is already installed on several holes, and directed final shaping on the holes still under construction. I can’t wait to see the finished product of our first mountain design,” Woods said via TGR Design’s official channels.

Woods announced earlier this year that he would miss the end of the 2025 golf season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn achilles tendon.

The championship course is set to open in 2025 and will stretch over 8,000 yards, making it one of the longest in Utah.

Woods also made an on-site visit to Park City last June, when he and his team did a walk-through that covered all 18 holes, made approvals for seven holes and held detailed discussions on shaping and strategy for the remainder.

Located in the private Marcella Jordanelle Ridge community near Park City, the course is part of a broader luxury development effort. The exclusive, members-only club is a joint venture between Marcella Jordanelle Ridge and Marcella at Deer Valley, the only private ski community in the area to offer a connected golf membership.

Once complete, Marcella will feature not only the Tiger Woods-designed 18-hole course but also a short course by Woods, another full-length course, and luxury amenities across three locations: Deer Valley, Jordanelle Ridge, and Marcella on Main.

The site sits near the Deer Valley East Village and is being positioned as one of the premier year-round private clubs in the country. Marcella Club said more than 65% of its 500 available memberships have already been sold.

Additional real estate offerings near the course are expected to be announced later this year, further expanding what is quickly becoming one of the most exclusive golf and ski communities in the U.S.
