SNAPPED: Concert on the Slopes gets up close and personal with Chris Botti

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Concert on the Slopes threw out the rulebook July 26 when Chris Botti and Caroline Campbell ditched the stage to perform from the heart of the audience.

The Grammy-winning trumpeter encouraged the crowd to capture the moment on their phones, creating an unusually interactive experience at the intimate Canyons Village venue.

Campbell, making her second Concerts on the Slopes appearance this year, has been performing since age 8. The world-renowned violinist seamlessly weaves classical training with jazz spontaneity and pop sensibility, bringing her Carnegie Hall experience to outdoor mountain venues.

Botti’s jazz quartet has earned him multiple Grammy nominations and one win. The American composer received several standing ovations throughout the evening.

The night concluded when Skier Dude — the concert series’ beloved mascot — joined the final songs, “performing” alongside the professionals.

Concert on the Slopes continues its summer run through Aug. 30 at Canyons Village.
