PARK CITY, Utah — The longtime lift hauling skiers from the Canyons parking lot to the base area may be on its last loop.
Park City Mountain and the Canyons Village Management Association (CVMA) are looking to replace the lower Canyons people mover — the Cabriolet — with a fully enclosed gondola, and they want public feedback. An open house is set for Monday, July 14, from 4–6 p.m. at the Grand Summit Hotel.
The Cabriolet currently ferries guests from the free parking area to the Red Pine Gondola and Orange Bubble Express. That parking lot is in the midst of a major facelift and expansion with construction underway on a five-level garage that will have over 1,800 spots. Once complete, the garage will relocate all surface-level parking—including the upper lots—to the lower Cabriolet lot, increasing demand for skiers and riders to access the resort via the Cabriolet lift. The garage will be partially open for the 2025–26 ski season, offering 653 parking spaces while construction pauses for the winter.
In tandem with the parking overhaul, officials are planning the new gondola to be operational for the 2026/27 season, pending approvals. No word yet on how many people the new lift will carry, but the project aims to improve access for overnight guests, residents, and day visitors alike.
Meanwhile, construction is also underway on the Sunrise lift, which is being upgraded into a new gondola connecting upper Canyons Village to the Red Pine Lodge.
