Park City photographer Dana Klein captures resilience and imagination in new exhibits

PARK CITY, Utah — Dana Klein, a local portrait photographer, has been lighting up Utah lives for over a decade. She fell in love with creating collages out of photographic images and has created a limited edition print series and a book based on this artform.

Her imagination creates images that many people mistake for paintings. They are, however, all photographs she stitches together on her computer. Recently, she got together with fellow artist Amy Englebrecht for a popup exhibition. Dana was displaying images from her Moose & Magpies series.

Images of Hope

While Dana Klein has been working in photography with her own studio, she is embarking on a major effort to display her artwork to the public this year. Through August 27 you can see images she created of cancer survivors at the Old Dome Meeting Hall in Riverton, Monday through Wednesday, 12 – 5 p.m. ‘Still Standing: The Art of the Fight’ is an exhibition celebrating the resilience, strength, and healing power of art in the face of adversity. The exhibit highlights survivors of accidents, abuse and diverse medical issues and how art can help. The image GROW displays Kristina, a Stage 3 Ductal Carcinoma survivor, who Dana says “has grown in countless ways — learning not just to survive, but to thrive after breast cancer.” Kristina was part of Dana’s Project Shine.

Local exhibit June 27, 28 12 – 7 p.m. and June 29 12 – 4 p.m.

You can meet Dana Klein and see her artwork at the end of June at the MINERS9 exhibition. Dana has lived in Park City for about 15 years and raised two sets of twins. She loves storytelling with her photography and delves into her subjects’ motivations and passions when she prepares to create unique portraits for them. She fell in love with moose and magpies after moving to Park City. One of her most recent creations is “Moose on Main Street,” which combines a moose walking up historic Main Street into wild meadows with the beauty of Park City’s historic buildings.
