PARK CITY, Utah — A natural gas leak prompted the evacuation and shutdown of Park City’s Main Street, Swede Alley, and Park Avenue on Tuesday after a contractor struck a gas line just after noon.
According to city officials, the incident occurred during work by the Toro Blanco Group and its subcontractor, who were installing small wireless infrastructure on Main Street. The damaged gas line is not connected to any city project.
First responders quickly secured the area and evacuated businesses south of Heber Avenue. Enbridge Gas is leading the repair effort, which is expected to take several hours. No injuries have been reported.
In a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, the city said it is working closely with the contractors to ensure proper safety protocols are followed and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Officials are urging the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
