PARK CITY, Utah — Five ducklings were safely reunited with their mother Tuesday after firefighters from Station 33 rescued them from a rain gutter where they had become trapped.
The rescue began when residents spotted a distressed mother duck near a storm grate where her babies had fallen through. Park City Fire Department crews, led by Capt. Chad Kramer, responded to the call and carefully extracted all five ducklings from the drainage system.
“We went from a distressed Mamma with ducklings in a grate to a happy Mamma with 5 ducklings,” said Dawnna Alliss, who witnessed the rescue. “Just wanted to give credit for these amazing guys and also let folks know they actually do stuff like this.”
The ducklings appeared unharmed and were quickly reunited with their mother, who led them away from the area.
Alliss praised the firefighters’ efforts, saying she was “sooo grateful for Captain Chad and this team” for their work in saving the small family.
Fire Station 33 regularly responds to animal rescue calls throughout the Park City area in addition to their emergency medical and fire suppression duties.
