Park City Chamber announces grant, award and new toolkit in push for sustainable tourism

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau announced three developments in its ongoing effort to promote sustainable tourism: the return of the Sustainable Tourism Grant, recognition in the 2025 Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards program and the launch of a green event toolkit for meeting planners.

Applications are now open for the third-annual Sustainable Tourism Grant. The program offers up to $30,000 per award to support initiatives aligned with the Park City & Summit County Sustainable Tourism Plan. Proposals must be submitted by May 2. A committee will review applications using a standardized rubric, with final awards subject to funding availability and approval by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

“While we’re only three years into our 10-year Sustainable Tourism Plan, the progress we’ve made is a testament to the power of community collaboration,” said Jennifer Wesselhoff, President & CEO of Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau. “Our Sustainable Tourism Grant program continues to empower local organizations to improve sustainable and green tourism practices, ultimately shaping a collective Park City future where local pride and responsible tourism go hand-in-hand.”

The Chamber’s “Mountainkind” rebrand was awarded first place in the 2025 Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards in the business and marketing category. The award recognizes innovative approaches to sustainability and destination marketing.

In addition, the Chamber has introduced an online toolkit for meeting and event planners. The resource is designed to help organizers implement sustainable practices during events held in Park City.

“This recognition and the continued momentum for sustainable tourism initiatives are incredible to see,” said Morgan Mingle, Director of Sustainable Tourism at the Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau. “Each program highlights our commitment to travelers seeking sustainable destinations and, more importantly, brings us closer to a future where our visitor economy thrives in balance with environment and social needs.”
