Limited release: High West’s new American single malt

PARK CITY, Utah — High West Distillery & Saloon announced the release of its latest High Country American Single Malt whiskey, available exclusively in Utah for a limited time.

The release comes after the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau’s January decision to formally recognize American single malt as an official whiskey category in the United States.

“We can’t wait to share this year’s High Country American Single Malt with whiskey lovers throughout the state,” said Tara Lindley, director of blend and sensory at High West Distillery. “With a slightly older age perception, the blended single malt whiskeys of this rendition were aged in used and new charred white American oak barrels, with a portion finished in French oak Ruby Port, Oloroso Sherry, and PX Sherry barrels for a distinctly robust flavor profile.”

The whiskey blends single malts aged four to eight years in used and new charred white American oak barrels. Some portions are finished in French oak Ruby Port, Oloroso Sherry, and PX Sherry barrels.

The distillery describes the whiskey’s profile as featuring aromas of wildflower honey, golden raisins, and chamomile, with tasting notes including toffee, graham cracker, and cocoa nibs.

Bottles are available at High West’s Park City and Wanship locations and state liquor stores for $79.99.

High West, founded as Utah’s first legal distillery since 1870, operates a 30,000-square-foot facility in Wanship and maintains a location in Park City’s Old Town district. The company distributes whiskey nationally and internationally.
