Avalanche forecasters at the Utah Avalanche Center warn that the combination of fresh snow and weak underlying layers will create HIGH avalanche danger on many slopes across northern Utah and southeast Idaho. Backcountry travelers are urged to avoid slopes steeper than 30 degrees, carry avalanche rescue gear, and check the latest forecasts before venturing out.
By late Saturday, warming temperatures could bring rain and mixed precipitation, further complicating conditions. The storm is expected to taper off by Monday, but avalanche risks may persist into next week.
