Park City Fashion Week spotlights Utah design talent
PARK CITY, Utah – Against the backdrop of the Sundance Film Festival’s opening weekend, local designers and boutiques took center stage Sunday at Park City Fashion Week, transforming Main Street’s Marquee venue into a runway celebration of regional talent.
“We wanted to bring the runway to the Rockies,” said founder Kim Kienow, who launched the event in 2020. “This year, we’re excited to include some of Park City’s unique boutiques like Chamomile, Panache, The Collective, and We Norwegians, alongside our custom couture designers.”
The show, which highlighted collections from local boutiques and designers, featured pieces ranging from vintage-inspired wedding gowns to avant-garde accessories. TJ Goldman presented handbags crafted from glass and leather, designed to interact with light.
“These bags truly become alive when they are seen through the light,” Goldman said.
Salt Lake City designer Hannah Rusander presented modernized vintage wedding dresses, while Hannah Gordon and Heggy Gonzalez unveiled their latest collections. Miss Utah USA served as a guest interviewer on the red carpet.
“I teach in the fashion department at the local college, and I have a soft spot for finding new talent and giving people opportunities,” said Kienow, introducing a lineup that included emerging designers alongside established names.
The event also highlighted the work of local artists Eddie Egbo and Sarah Luna, whose pieces were displayed throughout the venue.
Despite the challenges of securing space during Sundance, Kienow sees the timing as advantageous. “Competing for venues during the festival is intense, but it’s part of what makes this event special. We’re showcasing what Utah’s fashion scene has to offer on an elevated stage.”
The evening included live music and shopping opportunities, with Kienow indicating plans to expand to a multi-day format in future years.
