Inaugural Central Wasatch Symposium to feature Terry Tempest Williams

MILLCREEK, Utah — The Central Wasatch Commission is hosting its inaugural Central Wasatch Symposium, a two-day event designed to explore the interplay of economy, environment, recreation, and transportation in the region. The symposium will be held on January 9-10 at Millcreek City Hall, featuring a keynote address by acclaimed author and environmentalist Terry Tempest Williams.

Williams, known for her environmental literature and advocacy, will open the symposium on Thursday, January 9, at 10 a.m. Her works, including Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place and Erosion: Essays of Undoing, have inspired readers to consider ethical and equitable relationships with the natural world.

“This symposium will be an opportunity for the public to engage in all the work of the Central Wasatch Commission,” said Jeff Silvestrini, Millcreek mayor and chair of the commission. “It will spotlight the interdependence of the four systems of the Central Wasatch while bringing stakeholders and the public together for learning and networking.”
