Free Sundance movies for locals and where to catch them
PARK CITY, Utah — The 2025 Sundance Film Festival is offering locals access to free screenings through its Local Lens program from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, subject to availability.
Available films for viewing include “Sally,” “Speak,” “East of Wall” and “Where the Wind Comes From.”
To access online screenings, viewers must:
– Sign in or create an account on the Festival homepage
– Navigate to the ticketing page and select “Single-Film Ticket: Online”
– Search for the film title and add to cart
– Review order and enter provided promo code
– Complete checkout
– Wait for confirmation email
– Access films through the Festival schedule or film details page during availability window
While in-person screenings for full-time locals are sold out, waitlist tickets may be available at theaters. Proof of residency is required, so bring your ID.
Park City screenings at the Ray Theater:
– Jan. 29, 6:15 p.m.: “Omaha” with short film “The Long Valley”
– Feb. 2, 5:30 p.m.: Best of Fest
Salt Lake City screenings at the Rose Wagner Theater:
– Jan. 30, 4:30 p.m.: “Deaf President Now!”
– Feb. 2, 5:30 p.m.: Best of Fest
The Senior Citizen Center of Park City, located at 1361 Woodside Ave., will screen six festival films for current members. Membership is available to those 60 and older for $5 annual dues.
The center’s screening schedule:
– Jan. 30, 2 p.m.: “Deaf President Now!”
– Jan. 31, 10 a.m.: “Third Act”
– Jan. 31, 12:30 p.m.: “DJ Ahmet”
– Feb. 1, 10 a.m.: “East of Wall”
– Feb. 1, 12:30 p.m.: “Rains Over Babel”
– Feb. 2, 10 a.m.: “Sally”
For lunch service on Mondays and Thursdays, reservations are required by 5 p.m. the previous day at 435-333-1586 or pclunch@summitcounty.org.
