Engen Museum and OurSundays host après ski night honoring ski culture and diversity
PARK CITY, Utah — The Alf Engen Ski Museum and the OurSundays Ski and Board Club are teaming up for a unique après ski experience, blending snow sports, art, and community. The free event, titled “Beyond the White,” takes place on Monday, Jan. 20, from 6–8 p.m. at the Park City Visitor Information Center in Kimball Junction. All are welcome, whether they’ve been on the slopes or not.
The highlight of the event is the “Beyond the White” exhibit, which tells the story of the OurSundays Ski and Board Club, a Salt Lake City-based organization founded in September 2023. The club’s mission is to build community and foster a love for snow sports, with a focus on increasing access for Black individuals living in and visiting Utah. The exhibit showcases ski-inspired stories, illustrating the diverse lives of the club’s members.
“We are artists, doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers, and more,” said Mark Giles, vice president of the OurSundays board. “Sports, much like the arts, have a unique power to unite people, and this exhibit celebrates the intersection of the two realms.”
In addition to the art, attendees can enjoy a curated Spotify playlist, “Slope Side 2025,” which complements the exhibit.
Located in Salt Lake City, the OurSundays Ski and Board Club is an affiliate of the National Brotherhood of Snowsports. Thanks to its central location, the club is within 30 minutes of resorts like Alta, Brighton, Snowbird, and Solitude and just 45 minutes from Deer Valley, Park City, and Snowbasin.
The club organizes a wide range of activities, including snow excursions, early-morning tailgates, and free ski and snowboard lessons aimed at breaking down barriers to participation in snow sports. “We want you to hit the slopes with us,” the group emphasizes.
Beyond winter, OurSundays remains active in the summer with events such as cabin trips, holiday parties, karaoke nights, and (most notably) cookouts. These gatherings are designed to foster community and celebrate Utah’s natural beauty.
