Funding opportunity: Park City seeks nonprofits for community programs

PARK CITY, UT — Park City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is inviting local nonprofit organizations to apply for funding aimed at enhancing the well-being of city residents. The application window closes on Dec. 6, 2024, at 11:59 p.m., giving organizations a chance to secure support for their impactful programs.

The initiative underscores PCMC’s commitment to addressing community needs through targeted funding. Nonprofits working in priority areas such as health, housing, recreation, equity, and sustainability are encouraged to apply.

Targeted Support for Community Priorities

The City Council has identified six key areas where nonprofit programs can make a significant difference:

  • Core Services: Programs aimed at improving physical and mental health.
  • Community Building: Initiatives that enhance access to resources and create vibrant gathering spaces.
  • Affordable Housing: Efforts to increase housing availability or help residents maintain their homes.
  • Recreation: Projects promoting connectivity and enriching recreational experiences.
  • Equity: Programs designed to advance fairness and inclusivity.
  • Sustainability: Efforts supporting clean energy and environmental health.

“This funding is a vital part of Park City’s mission to ensure a thriving, inclusive community,” PCMC representatives noted.

Evaluation Process

Applications will undergo a multi-step review process:

  1. Initial Screening: City staff will assess whether submissions meet eligibility criteria.
  2. Committee Evaluation: Eligible applications will be reviewed by the Nonprofit Services Advisory Committee, which will score submissions based on established guidelines. A minimum score of 60% is required to advance.
  3. Virtual Interviews: Selected applicants will present their proposals and answer questions from the committee during scheduled interviews in January and February.
  4. Recommendations: The committee will draft funding recommendations based on scores, interviews, and the balance between requested funding and available resources.
  5. City Council Approval: The Park City Council will make final decisions on funding allocations.

Funding and Accountability

Contracts may extend up to four fiscal years, with funds distributed in installments. Eighty percent of the annual award is released at the beginning of the fiscal year, with the remaining 20% contingent on meeting performance goals. Approximately $250,000 remains available for fiscal year 2025. Historically, annual awards have ranged from $20,000 to $50,000.

Transparency and Public Records

All applications will be treated as public records under the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA), ensuring transparency. Successful applicants must enter into a Public Service Contract Agreement with the city.
