SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A crowd of hockey fans filled the Delta Center on Saturday night as the Utah Hockey Club faced the Boston Bruins. The fan experience lived up to recent rave reviews from locals, many of whom were dressed in both Bruins and Utah Hockey Club gear.
The game was also electric. The teams exchanged shots in the first period, but neither scored, which stirred fans to a fervor. Then Bruins Cole Koepke scored early in the second. Defender Vladislav Kolyachonok leveled the score in the third period with a power move to his backhand. As the shot went over and up past Jeremy Swayman’s shoulder to the top right corner of the net, fans jumped out of their seats, and the stadium roared.
At 1-1, the game went to overtime. After ringing one off the post earlier in the game, all eyes were on number 7, Utah’s Michael Kesselring. Logan Cooley charged down the ice and passed back to Kesselring, who fired it in the back of the net.
