Summit County launches drive-through ‘Vax ‘n Go’ clinics for flu and COVID-19 vaccines
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Summit County Health Department is set to launch a series of drive-through vaccination clinics dubbed “Vax ‘n Go” in the first week of October. These mobile clinics aim to make flu and COVID-19 vaccinations more convenient and accessible for county residents.
The “Vax ‘n Go” initiative will utilize vans to set up mobile vaccination sites at various locations throughout Summit County. This is part of the Summit County Health Department’s broader vaccination strategy. While vaccines are already available at all three of the department’s locations and local pharmacies, these mobile clinics provide an additional option for residents.
Health officials are recommending that Summit County residents aim to get vaccinated in early October. This recommendation is based on local hospitalization data and the concept of “peak immunity.” By analyzing peak hospitalization rates from previous years, the health department has determined that early October vaccination provides optimal protection during the months when respiratory illnesses have historically been highest in the area.
For those who need to receive their vaccines earlier due to travel or medical reasons, appointments can be scheduled by calling the local health department offices:
– Coalville: 435-336-3224
– Kamas: 435-783-3161
– Park City: 435-333-1500
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about “Vax ‘n Go” clinic locations and dates as they become available.
For those seeking more information on vaccine recommendations, the health department advises residents to consult the 2024-2025 CDC recommendations for flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
