Eliminating food waste: Park City hosts Brunch and Learn Aug. 14

PARK CITY, Utah — The Green Business Program will host an educational event, Food Waste Brunch and Learn, on Wednesday, August 14, from 9 to 10 a.m. at City Park.

The event will focus on efforts to eliminate food waste from Summit County landfills by 2030. Discussions will cover Park City’s zero-food waste initiative and a new opportunity for green businesses.

The panel, facilitated by Andy Hecht of the Park City Community Foundation, will feature several local leaders. Jon Green from Savoury Kitchen will discuss culinary strategies for reducing food waste. Carissa Devenport from Este Pizza will address practical approaches and challenges local restaurants face. Brittani White from Momentum will provide insights on zero-waste practices and findings from the latest zero-waste report. Ginger Wicks, representing Main Street businesses, will focus on solutions for the downtown district and address collective action barriers.

Attendees will learn about strategies and solutions to achieve the zero-food waste vision and how they can contribute while engaging with community leaders and learning about the latest developments in food waste reduction.
