Trump scheduled to visit Park City for campaign fundraiser in August

Former President Donald Trump is set to make a campaign stop in Park City, Utah on Aug. 29

PARK CITY, Utah — Former President and current republican presidential nominee Donald Trump  is set to make a campaign stop in Park City, Utah, according to Deseret News. A fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 29, which would be his first visit to the state since 2017, when he reduced the size of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments. Trump was supposed to attend a fundraising event in June, but the event was ultimately canceled due to a debate conflict.

Trump’s visit comes as Vice President Kamala Harris gains momentum in the Democratic primary following President Joe Biden’s announcement to exit the race. Harris also recently attended a fundraiser in Park City in June, highlighting Utah’s emerging role in the national political landscape.

Official coordination efforts for the Trump fundraiser are being led by George Glass, former ambassador to Portugal, and Marlon Bateman, a State Department official during the Trump administration. The fundraiser’s lead co-hosts are John Schnatter, the founder of Papa John’s Pizza; talk show host Glenn Beck; and Doug Quezada according to Deseret News.

The event is expected to draw significant attention following a recent assassination attempt on Trump earlier this month. Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who did not support Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections, reversed his stance after Trump was shot in the ear at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.

The fundraiser’s proceeds will support Trump’s presidential campaign. The event will feature prominent Republican figures, including former acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
