Utah Hockey Club starts inaugural season with away game Sept. 22

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — As of June 13, the Utah Hockey Club, formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes, has officially joined the NHL. Now the team has released its preseason schedule.

Two home games and five away games beginning Sept. 22

Their first game will be on Sept. 22 in Des Moines, Iowa, against the St. Louis Blues. Their first home game will be Sept. 23 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City against the Los Angeles Kings.

The preseason continues with the following away games:

  • Sept. 27 Utah Hockey Club vs Vegas Golden Knights in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Sept. 29 Utah Hockey Club vs Colorado Avalanche in Denver, Colorado
  • Oct. 1 Utah Hockey Club vs San Jose Sharks in San Jose, California
  • Oct. 2 Utah Hockey Club vs Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim, California

The final preseason game will be a home game played at the Maverik Center in West Valley City against the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 5.

Utah Olympic Oval becomes new temporary practice facility

The Smith Entertainment group and Utah Hockey Club are planning to partner with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation and finance part of the upgrades to the Utah Olympic Oval to turn 17,400 square-feet into a cutting-edge practice facility until training facilities can be built at The Shops at South Town in Sandy. The contribution will amount to several million dollars.
