Treat your skis and snowboards PFAS-free during Earth Week

PARK CITY, Utah — In December Park City Municipal called on everyone to ski and ride PFAS-free to protect our groundwater. A wax collection site has been established at Recycle Utah. Now, in time for Earth Day, two local Utah brands, DPS Skis and PHANTOM Glide, are encouraging Utah skiers and snowboarders to take the next step. Have your equipment treated with their PFAS-free, environmentally-friendly, permanent base treatment.

Bring in your skis and snowboards April 22 and 23

PHANTOM Glide invites you to come to their pop up showroom at Industry SLC on Monday, April 22 or Tuesday, April 23 at 650 S 500 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 and drop off your equipment to be factory-treated for $100 (normally $180). Drop-off times are during normal business hours, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Skiers and snowboarders that are unable to make it during business hours can reach out to DPS/PHANTOM Glide and they’ll do their best to accommodate a specific drop off time that works. Pick-up day is April 24.

Keep our water clean, prep your equipment for the future

As reported in December, Park City groundwater has been contaminated with one or more types of forever chemicals (also known as PFAS) and ski wax is a known contributor to this issue. PHANTOM Glide is a PFAS-free wax alternative that doesn’t release any harmful chemicals into the environment. The permanent treatment provides superior glide performance in all snow conditions and a single application will last for the life of the ski/snowboard.

Keep your old DPS skis out of the landfill, take them back to DPS Skis

In addition to the PHANTOM Glide promo, the new pop up showroom at Industry SLC is a drop-off point for DPS Ski’s new and innovative buy-back and reselling program, Revive. Revive gives customers a chance to trade in qualifying used DPS skis for a credit towards new DPS skis and gear. Credits amount up to $500 depending on the condition of the traded in skis. Upon receipt, DPS puts the returned skis through a 10-point factory tune process and treats them with PHANTOM Glide before putting the skis up for sale directly from DPS Skis or through Geartrade. Revive allows new customers to give a DPS factory-restored pair of skis a second life which, in turn, keeps those skis from taking up space in a landfill.
