Deer Valley owner Alterra acquires Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing

BRITISH COLUMBIA, Canada — Alterra Mountain Company announced today the closing of its purchase of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing in Blue River, British Columbia, Canada.

The acquisition further expands Alterra’s heli-skiing portfolio, which also includes CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures.

“With the acquisition of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, we are excited to add another premier heli-skiing operation to the Alterra family,” said Jared Smith, president and CEO of Alterra Mountain Company.

According to the press release, the Wiegele family has shared a deep respect for the wilderness and mountain environment and is committed to continuing environmental sustainability, capital investment, and efforts to make mountain sports more accessible.

Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is located in the Cariboo, Monashee, and Rocky Mountains ranges in British Columbia. The area is known for its high-quality powder snow and 1,000 peaks, making it an ideal destination for skiers of all levels.

The operation consists of 22 handcrafted log chalets, a 20,000-square-foot main lodge, the exclusive Albreda Lodge, and a full-service sports shop.
