Utah bobsledder Kaysha Love wins 2 World Cups events with 2 new track records in Lillehammer
LILLEHAMMER, Norway — USA Bobsled/Skeleton announced that Saturday brought an impressive result for Team USA at the Norwegian World Cup. In Women’s Monobob, Salt Lake Valley’s Kaysha Love slid into a first-place finish with her combined run time of 1:48.52, setting a new track record in the process.
“I am incredibly grateful for my support system of teammates, coaches, and family that have helped me through this season. It is challenging learning a new track each week but it is also been a massive blessing getting the opportunity to compete alongside these incredible athletes. I am very much looking forward to racing with Azaria [Hill] tomorrow,” Love said in a statement.
Also in Women’s Monobob, Elana Meyers Taylor placed tenth with a time of 1:49.55.
Sunday brought even more exciting action for the UsA; in 2-Woman Bobsled, Love again slid into a podium finish and also earned a track record, this time in the form of a bronze medal with teammate Azaria Hill after a combined run time of 1:43.85.
“Getting a Top 3 finish and start record with Kaysha is such a great feeling! Kaysha is an amazing pilot, she not only speaks life into you but confidence as well! I have complete belief in her and everything she brings to the table as a pilot. Being behind her as her brake woman is such a privilege, her mindset and work ethic is a rarity and contagious. That is something I take immense pride in; is our work ethic. We work hard together, we train hard together, we push hard together, and most of all we have fun together!” Hill said in a statement.
“I am extremely proud of Azaria for stepping up during this World Cup race. All her hard work is paying off and in her rookie season she will walk away with a well-deserved start record,” Love said.
The Utah Olympic Park in Park City is Love’s home track. She placed seventh in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
